The winners and runner ups of the tenth anniversary of the National Geographic Traveller (Uk)’s images competitiveness have been declared.
From royal-esque portraits to spectacular landscapes, this year’s entrants were in for a challenging competition.
Photographers of all levels from throughout the British isles and Ireland were being in a position to enter the opposition, which seeks to emphasize the very best in journey pictures.
Forward of this year’s competition, which was sponsered by Nikon, Pat Riddell, editor of Nationwide Geographic Traveller (British isles), claimed: ‘Last 12 months, our visitors entered in their hundreds.
‘Our panel of expert judges was amazed with the richness of compositions, the wide variety of technological innovation applied — from DSLR cameras to drones and cellular telephones — and the breadth of locations represented.
‘This 12 months, we’re encouraging audience to enter their images no matter of whether or not they ventured abroad in 2020 or not — adventures, we imagine, are as easily accessible on our doorsteps as they are overseas.
‘We’ve also released a new class: Food and Travel. Foods sits at the coronary heart of any authentic vacation encounter, and we glance ahead to seeing the strategies in which entrants interpret the conditions.’
And the successful illustrations or photos definitely do talk for by themselves.
Landscape category
The winner of the landscape class was Ozgun Ozdemir, who captured a modest stream flowing onto the seashore known as Marble Hill in County Donegal, Ireland.
The runner up was Jordan Banking companies, who shot the photograph of blocks of ice cracking from the glacier into Jokulsarlon Glacial Lagoon in Hofn, Iceland.
This photograph of the Emerald Lake, in Mangya, Qinghai Province, China, taken by Jianbo Jia, was also a worthy runner up.
Wildlife category
This photograph of a buzzing bee accomplishing its job at Wisley Gardens in Surrey, taken by Dimitrios Zacharopoulos, was a runner up in the Wildlife group.
One more runner up was this magnificent graphic of an osprey catching a fish in Avimore, Scotland. This 1 was taken by Hari Kumar Prasannakumar,
Urban Setting classification
Vai Meng Chan’s amazing impression of a sunset in Rainham, England – which appears straight out of a comic guide – was the winner of the Urban Surroundings classification.
Runner-up in the category was a photograph of the check out from the fifth floor of ChanMyae Visitor House in Downtown Yangon, Myanmar, taken by Joshua Paul Akers.
Foods and Journey category
The winner of the Food items and Vacation was a pleasant photograph of two stallholders getting ready for the working day in Veracruz, Mexico, taken by Nic Crilly-Hargrave.
The runners up included a photo of cooks making ready dim sum in Shanghai, taken by Ian Douglas Scott, and a vibrant image of veggies, fruit, spices and herbs shown at a day-to-day food market in Urubamba, a town in the coronary heart of Peruvian Sacred Valley, by Karolina Wiercigroch.
Folks group
This icy photograph of a particular person ice fishing on the frozen sea by the Notsuke Peninsula on Japan’s northernmost island, Hokkaido, taken by Claire Waring, was the winner in the Individuals category.
Two distinctly exceptional portraits ended up runners up in the classification.
