New music festival coming to CNY celebrates Black and LGBTQ+ music
Val Cavanagh grew up surrounded by new music. But, inspite of their long journey understanding new instruments and enjoying in bands of all genres, they always felt a feeling of loneliness. “I’ve been taking part in tunes due to the fact I was 14 in the Central New York place, and I individually felt like a little bit of an outcast,” they reported. “Like, there is not many other folks like me as a Black and queer artist myself.” With the advent of social media, youthful Black and LGBTQ+ artists have bigger entry to much more musicians of all backgrounds, but artistic fields keep on being dominated by white, cis-men,…
