Summer arts fun begins this month | Local News

The school bell has rung. The kids are out. Summer has begun, and so has the summer arts fun from the Cabarrus Arts Council.

Art Lab returns! Join us on Wednesday, June 15th at 10 a.m. for the first of many Art Labs we have planned for students 7 or older. We’ll take them on a tour of The Galleries’ exhibition, Let There Be Music, to explore the oil paintings of Anne Pell Harkness.

Art Lab

Children created their own painting during a hands-on Art Lab focusing on plein air artists — creatives who paint what they see outdoors.

After the tour, we’ll create our own “chair stories” – sketches and reflections inspired by Harkness’ work. Registration is required and limited to 15 students. To Register, visit https://forms.gle/KTareQ5WQ9Jbdq1P6. Adult supervision is required.

Art educator

Taught by instructor and educator Deb Reid, Art Labs explore a variety of arts topics and are suitable for ages 7 and older.
