Invading Russian forces wrecked a museum in Ivankiv, a town northwest of the capital Kyiv, that was house to dozens of works by the Ukrainian folks artist Maria Prymachenko on Sunday.
The Ivankiv Historical and Local Background Museum, found northwest of the money metropolis Kyiv was burnt to the floor, alongside with 25 works by Prymachenko, according to the Kyiv Unbiased.
Vlada Litovchenko, director of the Vyshhorod Historical and Cultural Reserve, confirmed the “irreparable loss.”
“Numerous historical and architectural monuments and archaeological internet sites are below risk of artillery shelling and uncontrolled movement of weighty military trucks,” Litovchenko wrote in a statement on Facebook that was translated into English.
“Another 1 of the irreparable losses of the historic-cultural authority of Ukraine is the destruction of the Ivankiv Historic-Cultural Museum by the aggressor in these hellish times for our state,” she wrote, adding that the museum was residence to not only the works of Prymachenko, but other artists and exhibitions as properly.
The self-taught artist was born in 1909 in the area and was buried there when she died in 1997. Her vibrant people artwork paintings have been broadly exhibited in the country and appeared on the country’s stamps for the duration of the 1970s. She was honored with the 1966 Taras Shevchenko Nationwide Prize of Ukraine. UNESCO declared that 2009 was the calendar year of Maria Prymachenko.
Since the Russian forces wrecked the museum all through the ongoing war, Ukraine has called for UNESCO to strip Russia of its membership in the business.

Tweets condemning Russia’s destruction of the museum and illustrations or photos of Prymachenko’s functions flooded Twitter.
