Dia de Los Muertos at The Monarch has free events this week including the Latino Film Festival and Las Cafeteras concert on Friday, Nov. 5, 2021. Visit ofoam.org for the full schedule of events.
The five-day celebration of Latino culture, community inclusivity, and the arts began Monday with the opening of a community altar dedicated to the victims of COVID-19 and continues with free events throughout the week, including the Ogden City School District Art and Music Showcase on Wednesday, Latino Film Festival on Thursday and concluding with live performances Friday night by Mariachi Aguilas de La Esperanza, WSU’s Ballet Folklorico and the nationally acclaimed Chicano band from East Los Angeles, Las Cafeteras. All of the events are free, thanks to generous support from RAMP, Ogden City Arts, Utah Arts & Museums, WESTAF/NEA and other partners.

Open Studio Night & Van Sessions
Open Studio Night at The Monarch is the biggest party in town every First Friday with live music, food, hands-on art, workshops and art exhibits in over 40 creative studios. The November lineup includes:
- “Van Sessions” live audience music podcast with Compass Rose.
- OCA Center exhibit “Vida, Muerte, Justicia | Life, Death, Justice.”
- Live letterpress demonstration at Thomas Printers studio.
- Art Box will be featuring local award-winning artist Rose Wambsganss.
- Dia de Los Muertos celebration with Las Cafeteras, Mariachi Aguilas de Esperanza and Ballet Folklorico.
- Art exhibits in the creative studios.

Eccles Art Center
The November exhibits at the Eccles Art Center will feature the painting and bronze sculptures of David W. Jackson in the Main Gallery and creative collages and paintings by Steve Stones in the Carriage House Gallery with an opening reception for the artists during First Friday Art Stroll. Jackson is known throughout the Intermountain West for his diverse landscape and wildlife paintings, and Stones is an Ogden native and adjunct professor of art at Weber State University whose humorous, mixed-media pop art “deconstructs, appropriates, and dismantles pop-culture, mass media images and symbols … to change how the viewer normally views these symbols.”

Wigs & Brunch
The Only Sequoia is in town again!
