Rachel Williams has been named the new dean of the Division of Liberal Arts at the College of North Carolina School of the Arts (UNCSA), efficient July 1,

Williams, an artist, instructor and advocate who has practical experience in visible arts, feminist
theory, women’s challenges, and community engagement, comes to UNCSA immediately after extra than two
decades at the College of Iowa where by she is affiliate professor and division
chair of Gender, Women’s and Sexuality Scientific tests and Studio Art. Williams will oversee
a comprehensive-time faculty of 14 in the academic division that presents a wide variety of liberal
arts programs in formats ranging from classic lectures and seminars to undertaking-
and studio-dependent programs for college student-artists attending the university in the 5
arts colleges (Dance, Style and design & Production, Drama, Filmmaking, and Songs).

Williams been given a B.F.A. in portray and drawing from East Carolina College,
and a Ph.D. in artwork education and an M.F.A. in studio art from Florida Point out College.
She is affiliate professor of Gender, Women’s and Sexuality Experiments and Studio Art
at the University of Iowa, the place she has worked since 1999 and is currently serving
a 2nd expression as chair. She also served as the college ombudsperson in the workplace

on intersecting devices of oppression, gender, race, sexuality, and arts-based mostly investigation.
